Can i put turkey back in the fridge once it has defrosted?

i defrosted a turkey on the counter overnight, (not in water have since seen this not ideal but it was a fairly cool night so hopefullly will be ok?)it has defrosted now and am not cooking for a couple of ideas - can i put it back in the fridge4a couple of hours2avoid bacterial growth or would this be worse?any help much appreciated!
