In the US, if u leave your child alone in a hotel room to go eat, is that considered child neglect?

Im just trying to figure out if that is considered neglect if something happens to them, like the girl getting abducted. I have been in a hotel w/fam & when the kids were sleep, I went down to lobby for ice or food. But would I have been prosecuted if something happen to them?
