Promise rings for teens?

Do you think promise rings a good for teens, about 16yrs old in high school? To show him/her the love and devotion for this person. To make a promise to be faithful to him/her. because engagement and marriage is out of the question. This isn't meant to say we will be engaged, but to say it is a possibility. also, couldn't this ring signify whatever you want? Thanks for your opinion!
